This winter in the UK, we managed to see early snow in December. Did the harsh weather hold you back on your project, costing you time and money? That would not be a problem for EcoGrid permeable paving because it can be laid in a variety of weather conditions.

Not to mention the ability to lower your maintenance of the ground so you don’t have to worry when the harsh weather hits.

How does EcoGrid permeable paving work?

EcoGrid permeable paving is made from recycled low-density polyethylene (LDPE), making it hard-wearing and sustainable. It is also certified to be UV and weather-resistance, which guarantees its longevity.

An EcoGrid reinforced paving area is classified as permeable due to the open surface area of more than 95%. Water simply moves through the surface. Its interlocking design can also dramatically improve the speed and simplicity of the installation.

The overflowing drainage system from the EcoGrid permeable ground stabilisation benefits in different weather conditions.

Snow

The cold from winter could potentially weaken the materials and damage the ground. But the real risk from snowy weather, in our opinion, must be the icy, slippery road created by melted snow.

Not for EcoGrid. This drainage friendly material can stand the low temperature, all the way down to -50°C. An example was presented by PURUS PLASTICS GmbH where they showed a fully working grid after 16 years and still going strong.

As for the icy road, the melting snow can soak through the ground, meaning it won’t freeze back up and form ice. It creates a much safer environment for both vehicles and pedestrians.

Heavy Rainfall

The EcoGrid reinforced ground can absorb a large amount of water when there is heavy rainfall. Reducing the surface water runoff, this can relieve the pressure from other drainage systems and prevent the risk of flooding.

EcoGrid also focuses on optimising the surface load so the ground can stay stable, reducing problem areas such as puddles and mud rut.

Hot Weather

On a sunny day, concrete or asphalt can store the heat from the sun and release it slowly, causing the temperature to raise. UV radiation can also make the ground more fragile and result in cracking.

EcoGrid permeable paving has also tackled those issues. The grid material is UV-resistance and can handle heat up to 90°C. In addition, the permeable surface allows rainwater to evaporate and effectively reduce the surrounding temperature.

Summary

The weather might be unavoidable, but we can develop effective systems to adapt to the situation. EcoGrid permeable paving can provide you with more stable ground while also looking after the Earth.
