Quick, clean and reliable installation in all weather conditions

Choosing the right Resin type

Selecting the correct resin is an important part of achieving a durable and long-lasting resin-bound surface. EcoGrid supplies both UV-stable and non-UV resins to suit different environments and project needs.

UV (Aliphatic) Resin

Best for outdoor areas such as driveways, paths and patios. It prevents discolouration from sunlight and keeps the surface looking consistent over time.

Non UV (Aromatic) Resin

Suitable for indoor or shaded areas where sunlight exposure is limited. It offers good performance but will change colour if used outdoors.

Our aggregate blends

EcoGrid offers a selection of high quality aggregate blends to create a resin bound surface that suits your style and project needs. Each blend provides a natural, attractive finish with excellent strength and durability once mixed with our resin system.

How EcoGrid improves Resin Bound installations

EcoGrid provides a strong, permeable and reliable base that enhances the performance of any resin bound surface.

Its load spreading design supports vehicles of all sizes while protecting the surface above from cracking, sinking or general wear. The patented locking system keeps each grid securely in place, creating a stable platform that stays level over time.

Because EcoGrid has a low exposed plastic area, the resin and aggregate bond firmly to the surface, improving durability and creating a smooth, consistent finish.

The grids are made from recycled materials and arrive in pre locked layers, making installation faster, easier and far less dependent on weather conditions than traditional sub bases.

Fully Permeable

EcoGrid is 100 percent free-draining, giving you a complete SuDS solution that manages water naturally. It is carbon neutral and produced from carefully selected recycled plastics that would otherwise go to landfill.

Beyond Strong

Every EcoGrid product is independently tested and published to prove its strength. Our range is certified by European TUV and RAL testing centres, and EcoGrid is an approved NATO supply product used worldwide.

Unrivalled Solution

EcoGrid is trusted across the globe, with more than 1.5 million square metres sold in 2017 alone. Manufactured in a fully automated, sustainable European facility, we support every customer with expert technical advice and friendly guidance.

Installation overview

EcoGrid makes the installation of resin bound surfaces quicker, cleaner and more efficient. The system requires far less excavation than traditional methods, which means reduced waste, faster preparation and minimal disruption on site.

Once the sub base and membrane are in place, the grids are laid on a thin screed layer, locked together and filled with angular stone to create a stable, permeable foundation.

With the base complete, the resin and aggregate mix is applied evenly across the surface and finished to the required depth using edge detailing. The result is a strong, fully permeable resin bound surface that looks great and performs well in all weather conditions.

Permeability, drainage and planning rules

EcoGrid resin bound systems are fully permeable, allowing water to drain naturally through the resin layer and into the EcoGrid base below. This helps reduce surface water, prevents puddling and supports effective flood management. Because the system allows rainwater to soak into the ground rather than run off into drains, it meets SuDS requirements and is considered a sustainable drainage solution.

In most cases, permeable resin bound surfaces do not require planning permission when used for driveways or front gardens, as long as the water drains into the ground and not into public drains or the highway. However, if a surface is laid using non permeable materials or directs water to traditional drainage points, planning permission is usually required. EcoGrid ensures your surface remains compliant, helping you meet current regulations with confidence.

Frequently asked questions

Here are some common questions about using EcoGrid as a base for resin bound stone.

Usually not. As long as the surface is fully permeable and drains naturally, planning permission is generally not required.

Yes. Depending on the grid type, EcoGrid can support very high loads, making it suitable for cars, vans and even heavier vehicles.

A good guide is three times the size of the largest aggregate used. For example, if using 3 to 5mm stone, a depth of around 15mm is recommended.

For outdoor areas, yes. UV stable resin prevents discolouration from sunlight and keeps the surface looking consistent over time.

Yes. The EcoGrid base can be laid in wet conditions, allowing projects to continue with minimal delay. Resin application, however, depends on weather and the correct resin grade being used.
