The New Style of Horse Walkers…
You might be an equestrian expert, or you might not. You might have thousands of pounds to spend, you might not. You might have a veteran installation team, or you might not. Irrespective of any of these, EcoGrid Ltd can assist in finding the ideal solution, whatever application.
The traditional method of building horse walkers is still very prominent across the UK: using an impermeable concrete base rather than a sustainable, ground reinforcement solution such as EcoGrid. Both E40 and E50 are suitable for these uses.
- Using a concrete surface directly impacts surface water run-off since rainwater has nowhere to drain into the ground. This can result in overflowing gutters and flooding. Using EcoGrid instead allows the water to be absorbed into the ground naturally.
- Preparing and laying concrete is labour intensive and takes a considerable time, not to mention the costs involved. It also has a meagre life expectancy of 15yrs. In contrast, EcoGrid is simple to install thanks to the patented interlocking system, with roughly 100 square metres per hour possible even for a novice. EcoGrid also has a guarantee of 20yrs, with expectancy expected to be 30yrs at minimum.
- Hard, solid surfaces like concrete can be detrimental to a horse’s health and damage their hooves. Using EcoGrid ensures a more forgiving, elastic type surface which provides freer movement for the horses and prevents wearing down of the metal within horseshoes.
Since most horse walkers are not often a simple, straight line, you might be wondering how complicated it would be to lay square grids around a corner or in a circular path… well, you’re in luck; it’s actually very easy thanks to the EcoGrid Expansion Joint! This useful piece of kit flexes from 30 to 80 degrees and features the same locking mechanism as our standard EcoGrid, making installation simple and effective – unparalleled in the market.
You can see it in action below.
This is a fairly brief look at using EcoGrid for horse walkers, but you can see more information here. EcoGrid itself can be adapted for many different equestrian applications, from walkers to paddocks, wash down areas to competitive arenas. So don’t be a ‘neigh’-sayer, just get in touch to discuss.
